Why Goat Milk Soap?

Why Goat Milk Soap?

So what exactly is Goat Milk Soap, and why is it so popular?

The answer begins with moisture.

The fatty acids in goat milk contribute to the rich, creamy quality of the soap, while glycerin, which is naturally produced during the soap-making process, acts as a humectant (a substance that attracts and helps retain moisture), helping keep moisture at the skin's surface.

But there is more to goat milk than moisture.

Goat milk contains Vitamins A, B6, B12, C, D and E, along with minerals including selenium, magnesium and potassium. These naturally occurring nutrients are one of the reasons goat milk has become such an interesting ingredient in skincare. Vitamin A, in particular, is well known for its role in supporting healthy skin.

Goat milk also contains lactic acid, which belongs to a group of compounds known as alpha hydroxy acids, or AHAs. Lactic acid is widely used in skincare because it can help loosen and remove dead skin cells from the surface of the skin.

The amount and activity of lactic acid in a bar of Goat Milk Soap isn't the same as you'd find in a specially formulated exfoliating skincare treatment. But it is one of the characteristics that makes goat milk such an interesting ingredient in soap.

Why Not All Goat Milk Soap Is the Same

This is important.

The reason I chose to include this particular Goat Milk Soap in my collection is because it starts with Raw Goat Milk and combines it with Olive Oil, Coconut Oil, Avocado Oil, Castor Oil and Shea Butter.

It also contains Palm Oil sourced from a member of the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil, along with paraben-free and phthalate-free Vanilla Bean Fragrance and Mica Powder for color.

As is my practice, I try everything before I offer it on movingwithgracefl, and I love this product. It's working very well on my dry, sensitive skin.

And with winter approaching, I know how miserable dry winter skin can be. Cold weather outside combined with dry indoor heat can be particularly hard on your skin. A moisturizing soap that cleanses without leaving your skin feeling stripped can make a real difference in how your skin feels.

For me, that's a very good reason to make a simple change to something we use every day.
